Diagram Notation defines placement limits and default content of zero, one or many Line Adjacent Name
Line Adjacent Name placement limits and default content are defined for zero, one or many Diagram Notation
We're operating under the assumption that the buffer spacing, default names and such are likely to vary with some Notations.
Not all Line Adjacent Names are actually named in a given notation. In an Executable UML state machine, for example, transitions are not named. Just the Stem Types are named on one end of the Connector.
In other notations or diagram types, maybe the connector is named, but not any of its stems.
And a given Diagram Notation might not specify the naming of any connetor adjacent names.
