- nj is used in orthographies instead of letter nj - ⱴ and ⱱ are phonetic symbols, not used in orthographies - 1978 African Reference Alphabet uses q̱ (q with macron below) not ꝗ
- ɤ is a vowel in Eastern Dan, with uppercase (in Unicode pipeline) It is also a vowel in IPA. - ꞷ is a vowel in Kulango.
- æ in General Alphabet for Cameroon Languages, used in Tikar - ɵ and ɥ are used in Dan in Liberia - ɯ used in Eastern Dan (Côte d'Ivoire) - ʘ used in Nǀuu (South Africa) - Ƃ sometimes used as uppercase of ɓ (although it should be at font level) in Dan, Kpele, Loma (Liberia) - β used in Gabon Scientific Alphabet - ŧ used in Balante, Hassaniya, Mancagne (Senegal) - ʝ used in Ik (Uganda)
-inverted breve below used in Pokomo (Kenya) - combining low line used in Orthography of Gabon languages - double grave and double acute used in General Alphabet for Cameroon Languages, Gabonese Scientific Alphabet, or in Eastern Dan (Côte d'Ivoire) - vertical line in Ngbaka (DRC) or Gabonese Scientific Alphabet - combining breve used in Tamasheq (Mali)
