Bread is a complete overhaul modlist for Skyrim AE (1.6.1170) with all AE content, built around Community Shaders. It significantly expands content across all aspects (at ~170 esp slots), aiming to breathe lasting vitality into Skyrim and deliver a deeply immersive experience, while striving to remain lore-friendly.
Additionally, it supports both English and Chinese. You can switch the language in MO2 at any time.
It's not perfect and could probably be polished until the day The Elder Scrolls VI comes out. All ideas are welcome.
Before you ask, see if the FAQ has the answer. Feel free to reach out on Discord as well.
Check the mods' pages for default hotkeys and avoid conflicts with the vanilla game.
Key Code Reference may help.

-
Purchase The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition on Steam.
Note: Wabbajack doesn't work with a pirated version.
-
Set the game language to English.
Note: This step is required for all players (Chinese translations are implemented via mods).
-
Upon first launch, the game will auto-download the DLCs. If not, register an account with Bethesda and then restart the game. Do not switch away from the window until the download is complete.
Note: If you encounter an issue where Wabbajack cannot download the base game or DLCs, delete the game folder and redo this step, or try verifying game file integrity.

Seek the Mad God's shrine. Whisper your madness. Claim your chaos. The Wabbajack awaits. -
Download wabbajack to a folder on your drive's root (e.g.
D:\Wabbajack) to avoid errors. Then runWabbajack.exe. -
Find Bread, click “Download & Install”, set installation and downloads paths (e.g.
D:\BreadandD:\Bread\Downloads) and proceed.Note: Nexus Premium gets automatic downloads; otherwise each mod requires a manual click.

Set MO2 language.
-
Select a profile for game language.
Restore the backup to both return everything to its initial state and prevent accidental misordering.
If you don't want those translation mods, type CHS (their suffix) into the filter box, select them, and remove them.

It is highly recommended to download baseline
profilesandoverwritefiles from Nexus and drop them into theBreadfolder (where the modlist is installed). The
profilesfolder contains a pre-configured save file named “pm”, which saves you from configuring settings that can only be set manually. Simply use the "Alternate Racemenu" power to redesign your character.Note: If for any reason you choose to start a new game rather than using my provided save, use MCM Recorder to apply my custom MCM settings. But settings for IED, etc., are NOT covered by this.
The
overwritefolder includes some other settings and generated files such as the community shader cache. -
Speak to the statue in the starting room, the "Dragonborn" option includes a choice to skip the prologue.
-
If you want to modify specific INI files, you can use the
filterbox under theDatasection on the right panel, it will display the file with the highest priority.
Note: Be sure to back up or make notes, as these custom changes are often easily forgotten and may cause issues later on.
-
Since I play on 16:9 screen with keyboard and mouse, I'm not very familiar with widescreen or controller setups. However, the modlist includes some mods that may be helpful, and you can also ask other players for help.
Note: Mods supporting non-16:9 resolutions (partial): Lore-Friendly Load Screen Compendium, Oathvein UI
-
Directly modifying the root folder (where
SkyrimSE.exeis) can get messy. Root Builder keeps things organized without touching the original files. This is why many Wabbajack lists (including ) usestock game, which allows you to modify this copy instead.Note: Another way is to create an empty mod, create a folder named "Root" inside it, and place anything you want to put in the
stock gameinto thatRootfolder instead. See Root Builder and Wabbajack Wiki for more.
Check Changelog for useful information. With some versions, you may need to start a new game.
The steps are the same as installing, you can use the same paths, provided that you have kept the previous downloads folder.
Any custom files not included in the modlist will be deleted during updates. To keep them, add the [NoDelete] prefix to their names.
With each release, I provide baseline profiles and overwrite files on Nexus. Back up your own saves first, then use them to replace the provided ones if you want.
This might be a bit much for here. For details, see the FAQ.
