On my server it would not prompt me to log in if it had incorrect credentials. It would just give me the message 'Wrong Credentials!' and then I would go to the logout page and back to the auth page to get the same message.
This makes it ask for credentials when you supply the wrong ones, so it fixes my issue, and it means you don't need to go back to the logout screen if you make a typo.
