Creating what's next, now.
Next Lab is a studio-driven innovation hub within ASU Enterprise Technology. We bring together students, faculty, and industry partners to explore emerging technologies and build solutions that matter — sitting at the intersection of technology, education, and society.
Next Lab is part of ASU Enterprise Technology. Our work centers on exploring technologies before they're mainstream, developing hands-on skills through real projects, and building solutions that are ethical, inclusive, and built to last. The goal is straightforward: turn ideas into real-world applications through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Our projects span a range of domains, including generative and applied AI systems, spatial computing (AR/VR/XR, digital twins), game-based learning, full-stack web platforms, digital storytelling, and UX research. Across all of them, the thread is the same — building things that have genuine impact.
Next Lab runs on a guild model, where interdisciplinary teams take on real problems together. Guilds include Applied AI Infrastructure, Games and Spatial Computing, Technical Artistry (3D, animation, design), Digital Storytelling, and UX and Research.
Projects are student-led and partner-supported, built using industry tools like Unity, React, Python, and modern AI frameworks. Past and ongoing work includes AI-powered education tools for low-connectivity regions, VR training simulations for healthcare and workforce development, digital twins for cities and infrastructure, and game-based career exploration platforms.
We welcome students, developers, designers, and researchers across all disciplines. You can join a guild, contribute to a project, collaborate on research, or participate in one of our hackathons.
