  • I do not use GitHub as my primary git server anymore, and migrating my projects to my personal Forgejo instance; https://git.helidoni.org/altug/
  • This is because there is a misalignment of my values and GitHub/Microsoft's values. - I expect any service I use to respect free software licenses like AGPL.
  • AGPL requires users to share the modification they made to an AGPL licensed code if they distribute an application binary, or provided network service based on that specific code.
  • Microsoft uses AGPL and similar licensed code for AI training without providing algorithms/weights/models, which is theft.
  • Every developer who respects software freedom should move from GitHub to alternative platforms or host their own services.
  • I keep my account and only use it for providing issues to other projects. If you are the maintainer/contributor of these projects please also consider migrating.
