| The EIDF Managed File Transfer service provides a secure method to transfer files to and from EIDF services including the Secure Virtual Desktop service. The service uses the SERV-U software to provide file transfer access to users. [Documentation for the EIDF Managed File Transfer](../mft/using-the-mft.md) should be used. | ||
| Data transfer to and from the Secure Virtual Desktop VMs can be performed using [`scp`](https://linux.die.net/man/1/scp). This is **only possible for users with the Data Manager role** and requires that the user has SSH key access to the Secure Virtual Desktop Router `<projectID>-router`. Data transfer using `scp` is performed by jumping through the Secure Virtual Desktop project's router, `<projectID>-router`, which acts as an intermediary for data transfer and access. |

User accounts in the data manager role will need to be added to the router and the EIDF gateway (via "manage account" in the portal). Mentioning SSH key access is confusing access to both machines and an ssh client is required.

Added an update to reword a bit given these suggestions to make clear what is required in commits:
