The BITS (Building Institutions & Technology Sustainably) Lab at the University of Washington conducts applied research in the field of Public Interest Technology.

  • 🤝 We run the lab using a cooperative model
  • 💾 We develop and host open-source software, and we and publish all of our research data using permisive licenses
  • 📍 If you would like to work on a research project, capstone, or independent study with BITS please follow the directions in our lab wiki
  • 🦺 Note that while we organize our work through this organization our projects that deal with human subjects are private by default
