I'm not sure I understand the need for this change - there is no explanation for it above?

Most users we speak to don't need Gamma and Saturation controls 'day-to-day' which is why they are hidden, so as not to clutter the toolbar with things that aren't useful for the majority. They have the option to show them if they do need them.
