The dimming is a good start but it doesn't seem to dim more than the background. The text is still full radiance and it draws greate attention than an unfocused element should. Far too often I'm sending input to the wrong pane.

I see there is a feature request to allow assignment of a different theme to dimmed panes, this would satisfy but offering this request to allow a simpler path. Make the 'dimmed pane' setting apply to all elements in the pane, or add additional affordances, e.g. a dimming level slider for background and another for foreground elements
