Save lora in diffusers format?

I'm new to training/ai models and still finding my feet, so this may be a daft question, but is there a reason some models save loras in comfyui format and others in diffusers format?  Is there support missing from the diffusers library or is it just personal preference that it was saved in comfyui format? 

If it's personal preference, what would be required to add diffusers support?
