Super Quick Start feature request

Hi there,

For technical folks, grabbing Skillshare via the CLI and being able to run CLI commands is very straight forward and easy. However, there are more and more users that more align themselves to the Claude Cowork way of doing things which is UI from the very beginning and incredibly turnkey.

I'm recommending a Super Quick Start feature in which Skillshare can be installed and running via a single click:

1. Download release
2. Double click on Skillshare application
3. Skillshare will automatically run the init, sync, ui commands in succession and launch a web browser taking the user immediately to the UI

Is there anything on the roadmap for the above?

I actually explored this direction after reading your issue. Skillshare already has a built-in skill (skills/skillshare/SKILL.md) that enables Claude to run CLI commands like init, sync, and ui on behalf of the user — so in environments like Claude Code, the setup is already quite hands-off.

However, I tested the Cowork environment specifically and discovered that it runs in a sandboxed browser-only context — meaning Claude can't execute CLI commands there. So the built-in skill approach doesn't work for Cowork users today.

This is definitely a direction worth thinking about. One possible avenue could be an MCP server that bridges the gap, but I still need to evaluate whether that's the right approach. I'll explore what's feasible within the Cowork sandbox constraints and share updates here once I have a clearer picture.

In the meantime, if you come up with any new ideas or have more thoughts on what the ideal Cowork experience would look like, I'd love to hear them. Let's keep this conversation going!

I'm not talking about Claude Cowork integrations, but rather how easy the experience is for first time users of Cowork. It'd be great to make Skillshare as turnkey as possible and not having to issue commands via the CLI to init, sync, and run the ui. Basically there should be a 1 click way to get Skillshare running with defaults and have the user land in Skillshare's web interface.

Got it, thanks for clarifying! So essentially what you're describing is a desktop application experience — download, double-click, and you're in the web UI with everything set up automatically. No terminal needed.

That makes a lot of sense as a way to lower the barrier for non-CLI users. Let me think about the best approach for this and I'll follow up here once I have something concrete. Appreciate the feedback!
