Test suite failures

Many of our tests are failing with recent versions of GHC.
I feel like this is likely due to bitrot in the test suite.

Some of the tests are expected failures now passing, which suggests that GHC has improved HIE files and now we get better weeding.

We should look into this, because the test suite is pretty new and hasn't had much time to bit rot!

Do you think it's worth holding off on a release until we fix this? I was thinking about publishing a release with GHC-9.10, 9.12 support today

Might be worth giving it a try and seeing if it's an easy fix

It was easy to solve the actual failures, and now we just have a few tests that unexpectedly pass with GHC >=9.10
