I installed the wheel following your instructions without any problem.

At run time, the only thing missing was libgfortran3 and scipy which I installed with:

sudo apt-get install libgfortran3
pip install scipy # Only because of the import in Stephane example.

I tried one example from Stéphane and it worked. I need the ATM_MODEL_DFILES to run the other tests. I believe this will become available soon. Maybe it is now?

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad it's working so far!

There are some publicly available ATM_MODEL_DFILES at http://collaboration.cmc.ec.gc.ca/science/ssm/, in the gem-data_4.2.0_all.ssm package. Hopefully this contains the needed files. A quick-and-dirty way to access them without SSM:

tar -xzvf gem-data_4.2.0_all.ssm
export ATM_MODEL_DFILES=$PWD/gem-data_4.2.0_all/share/data/dfiles
