spurious/duplicated issue reports

Several open issues in the repo (such as #48 and #68, for example) seem to be more support requests than actual bug reports. Additionally, several bugs/feature requests seem to have duplicated issue reports (for example, #20 and #59 seem to be referencing the same feature request).

If the maintainer would like to give me moderator status on the repo, I would be willing to go through and close the spurious issue reports, as well as merging duplicate issue reports. This should hopefully give any potential contributors a much better idea of how many bugs needing fixes actually exist.
