COMPA does not show up in "add to panel"

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install libpanelapplet-2.6-dev
2. Install compa (configure, make, make install).

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- I expected to choose the applet from the applet list. It wasn't there.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- Ubuntu 10.10 x64

Please provide any additional information below.
- System was rebootet after 'make install'.

This issue is almost one year old, but this worked for me (Ubuntu LTS 10.04).

After make install :
cp /usr/local/lib/bonobo/servers/compa.server /usr/lib/bonobo/servers/
