Please share wheel file on pypi

Hi ,
I am a developer working on a project using pyodide.

The issue is that svglib does not release wheel files on pypi. As far as I can see it should be possible to release.

I have the exact same issue and was just looking to open an issue. It would be very much appreciated if a wheel was made available for easy installation via micropip.

I was able to build a wheel without any code changes that I can use inside pyodide. I am serving this from as a static file for now, so I can get on with my work. @heisenpreet I will wait for your contribution before making a PR myself, though.

I've just stumbled across the same issue, but unless I misunderstand, I'm not sure what contribution there is to be made here?

I suppose that depends on how this package is currently released to PyPI! Is it currently just @claudep and @gherman manually running a set of publishing commands? Or is there / would you like there to be automated PyPI releases via GitHub actions when you push a new tag (https://packaging.python.org/en/latest/guides/publishing-package-distribution-releases-using-github-actions-ci-cd-workflows/)?

If things are being done manually, then I'd just recommend using uv for that (since I'm very afraid of other Python tooling and it uploads .whl files by default): https://docs.astral.sh/uv/guides/package/#publishing-your-package

I've run uv build locally on the repo to get a wheel I'm self hosting for now — like @xnopasaranx said, no changes to the code or repo needed!

I've attached the (zipped, since GitHub won't allow it otherwise) wheel for commit 71cbd86 (tag v.1.5.1):
