northwind-core.sql Primary Key Names

Hello,
I noticed that the Primary Keys e.g. in the Table Employee now read entityId instead of employeeId. I use the nothwind.sql with my students and was a little confused when we tested sqlite and the Primary Keys hat different names.
Is there a specific reason they where renamed, or would it be possible to have both versions available in for each database system.

Hi @guni77, I don't fully understand, can you give more context? Are you using the "northwind.sql" from here with SQLite, and the table primary keys in SQLite have different names than they do when using some other DBMS?

thanks for the fast reply. I accidentally mixed someting. I got your database and a database from https://github.com/harryho/db-samples
The post was meant for the other repository.

But I had a confusion with you database as well, when I discovered that both (yours and from above) databases have different datasets. Which I noticed in the employees table, because there a different firstnames and lastnames in there. I initially thought there was on Northwind 2010 database and not many variations. Nothing to fix with that I think. ;)

Hi @guni77, great to hear from you. I suspect the "Access 2010" Northwind template varied over the three years of Access 2010 being available. My goal for creating an SQL equivalent was to bootstrap creating a schema suitable for a web-based "PLM" system using MySQL, and have never been a real member of the Access community. All I can say is that I started with the Northwind template in the copy of MS Office 2010 I purchased in August 2012 (for $11 through Microsoft's Home Use Program for employees of enterprise customers).

If you don't mind saying, and because I'm curious, where are you located and who are you teaching?

Hi, thanks for the insight. I am from germany and think the correct translation is vocational training for application design. One of the courses is basics of databases and I was searching for a sample database to demonstrate the basic commands. For example the old database did not have any NULL values, therefore I could not demonstrate the concecpt there.

Do you have a URL for the program? I'm just curious. Here (Canada, Alberta specifically) we have 2yr vocational programs for specific roles (e.g. Software Development), 4yr+ academic programs (e.g. B.CSc., B.Sc., M.Eng.) and 4yr trade programs when mandated (e.g. journeyman carpenter, electrician, plumber...). It seems over the past couple decades we have been phasing out 2yr vocational schools by moving them to become universities.

It's good to have a database with enough complexity to explore all the basic concepts yet yet simple enough to not get in the way.

The curriculum of software development is as listed here: https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/fiausbv/BJNR025000020.html beginning at "Ausbildungsrahmenplan für die Berufsausbildung zum Fachinformatiker und zur Fachinformatikerin". There you can see a detailed description all the things they should ideally learn in 3 years. The trend for a lot of people is to go to universities, and I think applications to vocational schools is compared small.
