Should Cornerstone consider using semantic tools like py-semantic-technology (PyST) for entity descriptions and relations? Or for modeling? #2

Cornerstone is building on tools and workflows that do not rigorously define entities or activities like industry sectors or further upstream, activities like coal mining or passenger vehicle operation that provide sources of activity and emission data. In tools like FLOWSA, sources of entity or activities are specified with names and links and sources of correspondence files as well (although most of these are original).
There are now open source tools in the industrial ecology domain like py-semantic-technology that support defining entities and relations with standardized semantic framework, in this case SKOS and XKOS, and it's python-based.
Other options for more advanced semantic modeling like the k.Lab suite and its application for ARIES would be a option that would extend well beyond description and mapping applications.
This is an open discussion forum where comments on the potential value and benefits of these semantic approaches are welcome.
