RedirAddr recommendations #327

Description

@the-vindicar

RedirAddr is the redirection address when the incoming traffic is not from a Cloak client. Ideally it should be set to a major website allowed by the censor (e.g. www.bing.com)

Some DPIs check for major sites. If your masking domain is a major site, DPI will check if the IP you're connecting to is within the usual IP pool for that site. It's been noticed with VLESS censoring attempts, and maybe the same is applicable here.

In these cases, people suggest using "steal from yourself" approach - that is, make a simple fake website on the same server and use it for masking.
It has some benefits and drawbacks of its own, of course.

Please consider updating your documentation to include this caveat.
