External Storage: RAK4631

[B08Z]

I have a RAK4631 and wanted to use it as a transport node.

I see that I need to do this:

Use of nrf52840 based boards as a transport node will necessitate the use of external storage for persistence.

But can't figure out how to actually go about that.

Any help would be great.

Integrating non-standard storage is not plug and play unfortunately. You will need to provide your own FileSystem implementation that initializes your external flash and provides an interface to the FileSystem, and register that one with microReticulum instead of the standard one (which uses tiny internal flash). Look at the “FlashFSFileSystem” adapter in my microStore repo (which is a dependency of this project). That was actually developed to test one of the RAK flash modules (I forget which one), so you should be able to use that as a starting point for your own module with minimal effort. Do you recommend a specific module for storage...I haven't looked in detail.

Looks like the GD25Q16 is the only available option that’s really viable for a transport node. 2 MB in my testing should support a couple thousand paths as long as there’s enough SRAM for the index.
