Unable to create new project

When I try to create a new AppVeyor project, I get the error:

There was an error while trying to complete the current operation. Please contact AppVeyor support.

I have tried this with Generic Git and Generic Mercurial public repositories (no authentication). The URLs I tried work fine for cloning using the git/hg CLIs. For Git I tried hosting using dumb and smart HTTPS, and even tried GitHub clone URLs (still using Generic Git) and an example Mercurial repo hosted on mercurial-scm.org to make sure the problem wasn't somehow in my server configuration.

I posted about this on the forums a few weeks ago but didn't receive a response, although I saw that I was not the only user encountering this issue.
