Support Copy/Paste in text entry fields using the mouse

Description

Support the ability to paste text into text fields useing the mouse, noting Ctrl-v works. Currently I can not seem to paste into the fields with the mouse.

Why

So that as a user I can copy text from other apps into this app.

Closing Criteria

Checklist for closing the issue:

• No errors from make prep
• All tests pass make qtest
• Paste text into the fields of the Vaccinations entry page

Alternatives

No copy/paste - not an option.

Hi @gjwgit, I did a round of test, and I think I could copy and paste text in the app by using the mouse or the Ctrl-C/V keys. I have tested it on both macOS and Chrome.

With the mouse on Linux I tap the middle mouse button as a PASTE.

E.g., in my web broswer in this text box where I am now typing, I tap the middle mouse button and it pastes. Using the right mouse button menu and choosing PASTE also works.

In the healthpod app text box the middle mouse does not paste but I can paste from the right button menu.

On Ubuntu, the behavior of the middle mouse button and the Ctrl+V command often differs due to how the clipboard and selection mechanisms work. The middle mouse button typically pastes the contents of the primary selection (text selected with no keyboard shortcuts), while Ctrl+V pastes from the clipboard (text copied using Ctrl+C).

In Flutter the text field seems to only support PASTE and Ctrl-V.

Middle mouse button support seems to require extra listeners.

Check if there is any general solution for this and if not then note that and close.

This feature has been implemented. For now, I’ve only enabled this on Linux. Based on the discussion in today's standup meeting, I’ve submitted a PR so we can test the functionality first. If everything works as expected, we can then consider whether to apply it to all text fields, such as the Solid Server input on the Solid Login Page, whether it should support all operating systems, and whether it makes sense to extract it into a standalone package.

Does not seem to be working for me. It is pasting the clipboard rather than selection.

Normally the mouse would be used to select a region and then the middle mouse button click will paste that selection.

It seems, after a couple of attempts, the middle mouse button starts to paste the clipboard instead.

For example, I have used Ctrl-C to copy 500mg and I used the mouse to highlight Vitamin.

Middle mouse in this github text box will paste Vitamin where as Ctrl-v in this github text box pastes 500mg.

This is the normal XWindows behaviour on Linux. It is probably not relevant for any other platform.
