Just discovered Neolink! The last several years, I've been suffering with an absolute garbage RTSP stream from my single 12MP Reolink RLC-1240A, which has a terribly inconsistent and choppy H.265 Primary stream. I feel I was losing 50-60% of my frames at all times, with some 10-15 second gaps every several minutes or so. 100% of the time, these gaps lined up with the one thing I needed to pull footage for. Package there on the porch... who's the thief!?! Aaaand... package gone in the next frame. Garbage stream.
For almost four years I assumed it was either Blue Iris, my 150' Cat6 from inside my house to outside, my POE injector, my switch, my computer... I replaced everything besides the camera. A month ago, I migrated from Blue Iris to Frigate (big fan of both platforms) and the issue persisted. Eventually determined software was not the problem as ffmpeg showed the same problems under TCP and UDP, every possible camera settings imaginable.
Then, after many frustrated searches, I ran across a Reddit post that mentioned Neolink, and that it plugs into ReoLink's proprietary API on port 9000 that doesn't have the RTSP problem. O.M.G. I now have a true 20fps 12MP stream coming into Frigate, and it's beautiful. I feel like I'm seeing a 29.97 broadcast for the first time, when all I ever knew was the Phenakistoscope.
Thank you so much for making Neolink. When I'm in a better spot in life, I will remember to send a little contribution. For now, my heart-felt thanks to you and the original dev for this.
