Describe the issue

The new tab button's hover state doesn't match the tabs' shape and looks awkward. Is there a way we can make it similar to how the other tabs look? A pinned tab's hover state is the best comparison since they are of similar aspect ratio (only an icon).

To reproduce

Change the shape of the tab to something different like no. 9. Here is what it looks like:

Technically it is possible, but it is associated with certain difficulties, so I gave up on this idea. Since then, Mozilla has changed this button, so I can take another look, but I can’t promise anything.
