updated to v227k_14 and the controls menu is hidden.
tried multiple video drivers to see if it was some kind of glitch and nothing made it reappear.

Thank you very much! this worked, but removal made other mods dysfunctional, in this instance RealCTF. Leaving the mod's .int files in /system seems to keep the mod working in game. to clarify, should .int files for mods be placed in /SystemLocalized/int from now on, or should they still be place in the default /System location?
