Why doesn't the installer do the commands in "Before you begin"?

Summary

The installer is painful. First, there are all these prerequisites that should just be done by the installer. But the fact that you get through more than half the install process before the installer runs any checks in criminal. Have the installer run all the checks before it starts unpacking anything, then just fix all this stuff that the installer currently tells you to check the documentation for.
