Incorrect note setting

The problem I have is that when I set the base MIDI note 61 for a split stop and write the odf, it's set to 36. Then I open the odf in GOodf and it tells me the base note is 36 whith the first pipe being 61. I'm trying to build a Spanish Barroque organ with split keyboards and I get that problem. Could you have a look at it?? Thanks!!

I'm not sure your entry:

FirstAccessiblePipeLogicalPipeNumber=1

should be there at all, But this was way back when the new organ builder was not yet available and GO was still in its infancy.

Ok, so you want to have "split" stops like bass/descant implemented, right?

There are two approaches to this - and it depends on if you're using separate ranks or the older internal ranks of stops.

For the (newer - more modern) rank based version with a c1/c#1 split - here I assume 56 pipes starting at 36-C:

• first create rank(s) that cover the whole range of pipes for both the bass and descant of each "stop", ie if the lowest note is 36 then the rank starts at that and extends to the top note of the "descant" stop.
• create two stops in some manual, one for the bass part and one for the descant
• make sure both the stops use "referenced ranks" on their stop properties tab
• for the bass stop:
  • go to referenced rank tab of the stop and add the rank you need
  • change pipe count to suitable number (to 25) there
  • go back to the stop properties tab
  • set the Number of accessible pipes to the same number as before (25)
• for the descant stop:
  • go to referenced rank tab and add the rank you need
  • change First pipe number: (to 26)
  • make a note of the value now calculated for Pipe count (became 31 for me, but if the number of pipes in the rank is different than my 56 you'll get another number)
  • change the First Accessible key number: (to 26)
  • go to the stop properties tab
  • set the Number of accessible pipes to the same number as was calculated/set for Pipe count (31)

For the (older) stop internal rank based version, again with c1/c#1 split - assuming 56 pipes keyboard range

• create two stops for under a manual
• for the bass stop
  • in Internal rank tab set number of logical pipes to 25 and just load the pipes as usual
• for the descant stop
  • in Internal rank tab change First Midi note to 61, set logical pipes to 31 and load the pipes
  • in the stop properties tab verify that the First accessible pipe logical key number is 26 and that the Number of accessible pipes is 31

So as you can see the modern rank based way is a bit more involved but is perhaps a better model of what's actually going on in the organ than the older version.

If you have messed up the values it's just to change them or start over again...

I actually think that this topic itself might warrant another GoOdf usage screencast that showcase both methods.
