Investigate memory usage

investigate memory profile of cube and holocube, seen in a dashboard demo

I'm having trouble replicating the large memory usage we saw on some of the machines in the dashboard demo. In those cases we saw memory usage in excess of 4GB but when I run it locally it only takes up 400 MB.
