Add ASCII as a "write to" option in the GUI

I would like to add ASCII as a "write to" option in the GUI and ensure that it can at least retain some environmental data. Specifically, if it can retain Sea Surface Temperature that would be awesome. I understand there is some difficulty in retaining wind and weather data. This will allow us to contribute this to potentially other interested parties.
